# Corporate Seals

**Corporate Seals**

A corporate seal is an official stamp or embosser that a company uses to mark documents as acts of the company itself. When a document is signed “under seal,” the seal shows that the company is entering the agreement, and that the person signing does so on the company’s behalf rather than personally.

**Why Production SPVs Use Corporate Seals**

Most films are made through a single-purpose vehicle (SPV), a company set up to own and produce one project. During prep and production, an SPV signs a high volume of documents on tight timelines. These include vendor and crew agreements, location deals, payroll and bank paperwork, and financing documents, many of which come up the same day they’re needed.

To keep things moving, the SPV adopts a corporate seal so that its key production personnel can bind the company most efficiently.
